Description
The museum is housed in an old fortress built in the 16th century. From the 16th to the 18th centuries it was a defensive building and prison, later it was used as a infirmary to isolate sailors who came to the city affected by some infectious disease. The museum as such was inaugurated in 1968. It has been considered a historical-artistic monument since 1994.
The museum houses archeological objects such as: protohistoric goldsmithing, megalithism, the Bronze Age, castreja culture, Romanization and different aspects of the city.
