Espazo Fortaleza de Goián

For years, the undergrowth hid one of the best-preserved fortified enclaves on the wet border. The Eliseo Alonso de Goián Association and the residents of the parish have opened the Fortress of San Lourenzo. The City Council of Tomiño, advancing in the enhancement of this Asset of Cultural Interest, has recovered for public use part of the environment.

In the summer of 2012, the "Espazo Fortaleza" was opened to the public. A different space, designed by the architect Pablo Gallego Picard, and which has been distinguished with important awards for architecture, urbanism and landscape.

Since its opening, many residents have visited the place, from the municipality itself, but also from the region and other parts of Galicia.

It is one of the busiest places in the county and it is not surprising; the river beach where you can spend a good summer day; the terraces from which to contemplate the waters of the river Miño: the ancient fort on top with its impressive walls… Undoubtedly a place to rediscover every spring and every summer.

The equipment also has a playground, bar and an information point, the Punto Fortaleza, where it is possible to arrange guided tours, by canoe, bicycle or on foot, with a pioneering audio guide system in the region.
